Visible Radiation Studies

The second assignment of Environmental Performance Simulation taught at Carnegie Mellon University. The exercise was tailored to familiarize myself with the Climate Studio and Radiance in Rhino and Grasshopper. In the same group as the solar radiation assignment, we were responsible for analyzing visible radiation for the indoor environments of our sample building in Miami.

Like the solar radiation project, we were tasked with various analysis and design exercises. Some of the analysis conducted on our sample building included daylight factor, point-in-time illuminance, point-in-time and annual glare, and annual daylight evaluations. Design exercises included changing window-to-wall ratios, implementing skylights, and changing visual transmittance among others that had an effect on analysis metrics of the baseline building.
